Synopsis of Orginal Bill:
(without Amendments) | This joint resolution establishes a task force to study the workers’ compensation system. In the past two years, approved premium rates in the voluntary market for workers’ compensation insurance have increased almost 26%. This rate of growth threatens economic growth in this State, particularly for small businesses and those in the construction industry. The Task Force will be responsible for reviewing the recent increases and proposing findings and recommendations to the Governor and General Assembly on or before May 14, 2013.
